No. At Authority Sites, we work entirely online (virtually) because we don’t have a fancy office or design studio. We don’t have the high overhead costs of many other web design agencies, which means we’re able to deliver agency-quality work at a fraction of the cost. The question is: would you rather pay more to get the same quality work as a much larger agency with a physical location, or would you rather work virtually with an expert who provides clients with all the tools and systems you need to work together at a fraction of the price?
No — and it usually doesn't come up. Most of our clients are nowhere near driving distance from us. We work with people across the UK, the USA and Canada, using simple tools and systems that make working together online just as easy as working together in person. So wherever you're based, that's not a reason to rule us out.
Custom websites can be a significant investment for small businesses and start-ups, and not every business needs a fully bespoke build to get online. That’s why we offer a range of budget website packages designed to give you a professional look and feel. These sites are built on a customised WordPress theme (typically Kadence), which we use as a foundation and tailor to your needs. Packages start from as little as £700 and include your first year of website hosting.
Like the pricing above, it depends on several factors. Fully custom websites take much longer than our out-of-the-box website packages and can sometimes take 6–8 weeks, depending on the functionality and project requirements. If you choose one of our budget website packages, we can get you up and running within a few weeks. Your level of input during the planning stages, your availability to provide feedback, and how quickly you can provide content will also affect the timeline.
We use the platform that best suits your project. In most cases, that’s WordPress—around 90% of our projects use it. WordPress is one of the best content management systems available and, as of 2026, powers almost 45% of the world’s websites. It’s so popular because it’s flexible and easy to use.

I offer a range of payment options. Custom projects require a 50% down payment, with the remaining 50% due once you’ve finalised the design—before your website goes live on your domain. The same payment structure applies to our budget website packages. For custom projects, we also offer a financing option, so you can pay over an agreed period.
For ongoing services, payments are taken by direct debit each month until you decide you no longer require the service.

We generally recommend this service. If you choose one of our Budget website packages, fast website hosting and basic ongoing maintenance are built in.
Website hosting is one of the most important factors—you really do get what you pay for. We prefer clients host their websites with us. I use my own VPS servers, which are much faster than cheap hosting options. This is also a benefit of hiring us to build your website, because VPS servers are far more expensive than budget hosting providers, but our clients get superior website hosting for a small monthly fee.
